Lady Akosua Dentaa Amoateng MBE embodies excellence, inspiring countless individuals through her remarkable achievements. Born in 1983 in Juaso, Ghana, Amoateng moved to the UK at age five, where she discovered her passion for the performing arts.
Amoateng pursued her dream, gracing British TV screens in programmes like EastEnders and Holby City. In 2005, she released a gospel album, “Wu Ye Nyame.” However, her true impact lies in her work as founder and CEO of GUBA Enterprise (Grow, Unite, Build Africa), a social enterprise dedicated to advancing diaspora Africans and Africans back home through various socio-economic programs and initiatives.
Established in 2008, the GUBA Awards recognise individuals and organisations making a positive impact. Amoateng’s efforts earned her the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) in 2016 and the Ghana Peace Awards Humanitarian Service Laureate in 2017.
Amoateng fosters cultural exchange through GUBA supports business growth and empowers African communities. Her vision has garnered endorsements from esteemed organisations, including the Ghana High Commission and the British High Commission.

Growing up in the UK, Amoateng’s parents instilled a strong sense of Ghanaian identity and values. This dual cultural perspective drives her passion for African development. Her natural talent for performing arts emerged early, leading her to participate in school plays and talent shows.
Amoateng attended Walthamstow School for Girls, Leyton Sixth Form College, and Buckinghamshire New University, pursuing paediatric nursing. However, her true calling lay in the entertainment industry. Amoateng seamlessly transitioned into presenting and hosting, showcasing her charisma and versatility.
‘The Dentaa Show’, launched in 2006, became Ghana’s most-watched entertainment programme, providing a vital platform for African talent. Amoateng’s passion for celebrating African achievements led her to establish the GUBA Awards in 2009 to recognise individuals and organisations positively contributing to Ghanaian communities.
GUBA’s impact extends beyond the awards. It supports sustainable development and improves the quality of life in the UK, USA, and Ghana. Over 11 years, GUBA has impacted over 8,000 individuals, focusing on education, health, and youth empowerment. The GUBA Diaspora Network facilitates information sharing, skills exchange, and business opportunities.
