Kadijah Amoah drives growth at Pecan Energies, focusing on local impact, innovation, and responsible oil production.
As the CEO of Pecan Energies Ghana Limited, Kadijah Amoah continues to play a significant role in Ghana’s energy sector. She is the first Ghanaian woman to head an international oil and gas exploration and production company, marking a notable shift in leadership representation within the industry.
Pecan Energies Ghana Limited is focused on developing the Deepwater Tano Cape Three Points (DWT/CTP) block offshore Ghana. The company became a wholly owned subsidiary of the Africa Finance Corporation (AFC) in 2023, following its acquisition of Aker Energy. The DWT/CTP block contains substantial oil reserves, with recoverable resources estimated at approximately 550 million barrels of oil equivalent.
Before assuming her current role, Kadijah Amoah held senior positions in the public and private sectors. She served as Head of Investments and Business Development at the Office of the Vice President of Ghana, where she worked on policy and investment initiatives. Her legal and business background has informed her approach at Pecan Energies, particularly in navigating regulatory frameworks and advancing stakeholder engagement.
Since taking on the CEO role, she has overseen significant developments in the company’s operational and strategic direction, including preparing for large-scale infrastructure investments and securing regulatory approvals.
In 2023, under Amoah’s leadership, Pecan Energies secured approval to develop the DWT/CTP block, a $3.5 billion project expected to yield 268 million barrels of oil. The company also launched the Pecan Inspire Scholarship Programme, supporting over 161 students in STEM education with full scholarships and mentorship.

Kadijah Amoah has further emphasised environmental sustainability as an integral part of the company’s broader strategy. She has advocated for integrating renewable energy practices and promoting environmental responsibility within the oil and gas industry. Her position aligns with ongoing discussions regarding global energy transition and the future role of fossil fuels in Africa.
