Yande Nomvete, Operations Manager for Africa at Binance, is a pivotal figure in Africa’s burgeoning crypto landscape. At Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, she is instrumental in the development, testing, launch, and user experience of crypto products across the continent. Her role is both strategic and operational, driven by the conviction that blockchain technology can address financial disparities for Africans, particularly those underserved by conventional banking.

Yande Nomvete, fluent in multiple languages including Zulu and Italian, holds a degree in International Economics from Italy. At Binance, she manages everything from product requirements to the rollout of services in African countries such as Ghana, Uganda, Zambia, and South Africa. She ensures that each crypto product launch is adapted to local market conditions and facilitates the everyday use of digital assets by integrating crypto with existing mobile money systems. This approach has led to faster, more affordable transactions and increased access, particularly for small businesses and underserved populations.
Before joining Binance, Yande Nomvete was a Senior Product Operations Analyst at Chipper Cash, where she honed her skills in scaling crypto products and enhancing customer experience across borders. Her earlier role as a Product Specialist at Luno, another key player in the African crypto sector, provided her with deep insights into user behaviour and operational frameworks. These experiences now enable her to optimise Binance’s multi-country strategy and boost customer satisfaction throughout diverse African markets.
Beyond operations, Nomvete is a vocal advocate for financial inclusion. She believes cryptocurrency, particularly stablecoins like USDT and USDC, can help Africans hedge against the instability of local currencies and access borderless financial tools that were previously out of reach.
Yande Nomvete is dedicated to expanding digital finance across Africa, with a significant focus on crypto education. Through initiatives like her “Crypto Newbie Quick Course” and various grassroots programs, she aims to simplify digital finance and build confidence, particularly among first-time users.
A key part of her mission involves addressing the underrepresentation of women in crypto and tech. She leads mentorship programs, collaborates with nonprofits, and organises events designed to educate and actively engage women. Notably, in South Africa, her efforts have significantly boosted women’s participation in crypto-focused events and platforms.
