HRH Princess (Dr) Moradeun Ogunlana empowers women globally through healthcare, economic development, education, consulting, and leadership advocacy.
HRH Princess (Dr) Moradeun Ogunlana is a Nigerian-American entrepreneur and energy consultant whose work spans philanthropy, global business, women’s health, and international diplomacy. Born in Lagos in 1970 into the Yoruba royal lineages from Lagos and the Remo Kingdom, her academic journey began in the United States, where she earned a BA in Journalism from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 1991. This was followed by a master’s degree in International Consulting and Public Health Policy from Southern California University for Professional Studies and Liberty University in Virginia.
Moradeun Ogunlana, a visionary leader, has dedicated her career to championing women’s health and global empowerment, building on a strong academic foundation that includes an Honorary Doctorate of Philosophy in Humanities and Humane Letters from CICA International University and Seminary in 2016. This background allowed her to integrate communication, consulting, and public health seamlessly.
Driven by the critical need to address inequities in women’s healthcare, Ogunlana founded the African Women’s Health Project International (AWHPI). For over two decades, AWHPI has delivered medical and surgical supplies to underserved healthcare facilities, trained healthcare workers and volunteers, and educated women on vital topics such as maternal health, HIV/AIDS prevention, reproductive health rights, and menstrual hygiene management.
Beyond health, the organisation fosters economic empowerment by providing entrepreneurial training, microfinance loans, and mentorship to women and youth. AWHPI also mobilises communities and raises awareness through initiatives like Menstrual Hygiene Day campaigns, the Friends of Africa Campaign, the First Ladies Forum, and the Global Voices for Africa documentary.
AWHPI’s impact is evident in its measurable results, including significant reductions in maternal mortality rates, stronger healthcare delivery systems, and the empowerment of thousands of women with essential health resources and income-generating skills. Ogunlana’s leadership has also forged crucial partnerships, such as the collaboration with Bio-Tech Pharmacal, which facilitated the distribution of vitamin D supplements in Nigeria and other African countries to combat widespread deficiencies linked to poor pregnancy outcomes. Aligning its work with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, AWHPI consistently promotes healthcare access, gender equality, and sustainable community development.
Beyond her philanthropic endeavours, Ogunlana is the CEO of Innovative Global Consulting (IGC) Group, a firm that connects African businesses to global markets in infrastructure, agriculture, energy, and economic development. Her consulting work has positioned her on international platforms like the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC), where she advocates for inclusive growth in male-dominated industries such as energy.
She is also the founder and chair of the Africa 2-5-9 Project Initiative, dedicated to promoting Africa’s innovative and economic growth globally, and the founder of the Sister School Global Initiative, which pairs African secondary schools with international counterparts to foster cultural understanding and leadership education for young women.
Her extensive international influence includes serving as a UN Ambassador for Peace, where she champions women’s economic progress, inclusive development, and gender equality. She also contributes to several boards focused on cancer prevention, cross-cultural cooperation, health, and development. In recognition of her decades of service, Ogunlana has received numerous accolades, including the Arkansas Governor’s Volunteer Excellence Award and the U.S. Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award, presented by President Joe Biden in 2022.
