Karla Nwaeke, widely known in the ecosystem as KarlaGod, has established herself as one of the most influential voices driving blockchain adoption, digital skills, and youth participation in Africa’s emerging Web3 economy. Her work revolves around technology, creativity, commerce, and community building, and her impact is spread across several layers of Africa’s digital space.
Nwaeke is the founder of Bitsave Protocol, a SaveFi platform designed to give Web3 income earners a safe, structured way to save on-chain without exposing their funds to the volatility of DeFi trading. Because many Africans earn in cryptocurrency – whether as freelancers, blockchain contributors, or remote workers – Bitsave offers a stablecoin-based savings system where users deposit assets like USDC into goal-based saving plans.
The funds are held in individual non-custodial smart contracts rather than a pooled liquidity system, reducing systemic risk and allowing each saver to retain control over their assets. As users save consistently, they earn BTS tokens that unlock access to long-term financial products such as tokenised treasury bonds or borrowing options within the Bitsave ecosystem.
The protocol positions itself as a practical savings infrastructure for people in emerging markets who need predictable financial tools, not speculative ones, by integrating with chains like Celo, Base, and Lisk.
Alongside Bitsave, Karla Nwaeke serves as the Lead Partner and main convener of Borderless, a fast-growing nonprofit tech community and event series working across African universities and cities. Her leadership covers strategy, partnerships, program design, and the expansion of Web3/Tech Clubs that help students gain hands-on blockchain and product-building experience.
Under her direction, Borderless has grown from early editions into large, multi-city events like Borderless 4.0, which attracted more than 1,500–1,700 participants and brought together developers, creatives, non-technical founders, and startup teams.
Nwaeke’s year-in-review records show that she not only scaled Bitsave but also expanded the Borderless community and led a 1,700-attendee event across universities, including the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
