Early Life and Career

Born and raised in Tanzania, when female leadership was uncommon, she pursued higher education, earning a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting and an MBA in Finance from the University of Dar es Salaam. From CFO to CEO
Zaipuna’s professional career began in 2002 at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), where she honed her auditing, financial management, and corporate governance skills. After nearly a decade at PwC, Zaipuna transitioned to Standard Chartered Bank in 2011, where she served as Executive Director of Finance and Chief Financial Officer. By 2017, she had expanded her influence, taking on the role of Business Finance Lead for East Africa, overseeing operations in Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda.
Her accomplishments as CFO of NMB Bank quickly caught the attention of industry leaders, leading to her appointment as Acting CEO in 2019. During this transitional period, she demonstrated strong leadership, successfully navigating the bank through challenges.
